DIY Window Valance

When I finished my kitchen, I realized that I needed something cute for the window but TOTALLY on the cheap because.....well, because that's how I roll.

So along came this sweet little valance!

('scuse my window, all the windows in my house have buildup in between the double panes...ANNOYING! We'll eventually replace them, when windows get cheaper or.....whatever)

It's a twin bed sheet, cut and black ribbon added to the bottom! Picked up some curtain clips, spray painted a PVC pipe and added some finials I found for a $1.00 at a thrift store to the ends! There ya have it, a DIY curtain rod on the CHEAP!

I'm LOVIN' IT!

Pretty Spring Wreath

Hi friends! I seriously can't believe it's already April....time sure does fly by. I had so much going on last year that I was happy when it was ending, but now it's already April. Just shocking to me!

Anyway, I wanted to share my cute spring wreath that I made a few weeks back. I had the wreath on hand, which I had purchased a few years back at Walmart, and then picked up some flowers and ribbon at Dollar Tree.

Love it, and I love how welcoming it is on our security door! Yes, I put it on the security door, and yes, I HAVE a security door. I LOVE LOVE LOVE leaving my house open for the breeze when we have nice weather, but I don't like letting the flies, stray cats, or creepers in. I love the look of a storm door, but I think it defeats the purpose of letting the breeze in. So the security door that came with the house stays....for now. I'll probably put up a cuter, more expensive once EVENTUALLY :) Still need a cushion for my chair....but $30 for a cushion is KILLING ME! LOL!

Thrift Store Haul

Boy, did I have a good thrifting day today!

I woke up this morning, and decided I needed to find a big, ugly lampshade. I have a lamp makeover goin' on in my spare room, which I'll be sharing here when finished.

But of course, I found other things while shopping! You know how that goes!

 Here's my haul-
*Took this pic with my phone, because SOMEONE (hubby) took the camera to work!*

(And I know you want to judge me because of my insane looking garage. Just refrain for now.)

#1 A set of AMAZING chairs, aren't they so cool?!?!?! They were $9.00 a piece, I snatched them right up. Still deciding what color they'll be, but I know exactly where they're going- on the ends of the dining room table! Can't wait to get started on these!

#2 An 18x24 Frame. I originally got this one at the first thrift store I went to, thinking it would be great for the canvas I'm getting printed. But then I found #3. Not bad for $3.00, I'm sure I'll make use of it!

#3 A 24x36 Frame that's gonna be PERFECT for my canvas! $5.00

#4 That old lampshade I was talking about. After some work, it'll fit in great on my upcycled lamp! $3.00

SCORE!!

Kitchen Reveal!

It's TIIIIMMMMME! Today's the day that I finally get to reveal my beautiful, WONDERFUL KITCHEN!

When we moved in this house December 2010, it needed work. BAD. Over the course of 14 months, we did a LOT of work. But NEVER touched the kitchen. The thought overwhelmed me: there was grease EMBEDDED into the cabinets. Broken corner tiles. Heck, broken TILES period. Broken drawers. It was bad.

The good people at Giani Granite offered to help give us a beautiful kitchen by donating their Bombay Black Kit to us to make over our countertops- I am SO GLAD they did! This kit is AMAZING....just ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! It was so easy to do, and I LOVE the results! After repairing the broken tiles and giving our countertop a light sand, we applied the kit directly to the tile, and it ended up looking like granite tile! SWEET!

So let me show you how crazy our kitchen was before......*shudders*

 BEFORE:

Here's the AFTER!!!

(The lighting is next, we plan on ripping out the current lighting and frame, doing crown molding and paint and putting recessed lighting in the box)

On the cabinets, we used a white by Olympic, and the pulls, knobs and hinges are an oil rubbed bronze. The backsplash is subway tile grouted with white grout.

The valance is also custom made by me, but more on that later ;-)

I LOVE my new kitchen, and I LOVE Giani Granite! Their kit is SUPER affordable, and over a third LESS than other kits found at Lowe's and Home Depot! Their kits come with every thing you need to get the job done, and even includes a video! So give them a try, I promise you won't regret it!

And the best part of this remodel? The cost is under $400!!!!!

Do you love my new kitchen as much as I do?!

Swagbucks

Happy Tuesday friends! We got back from Carlsbad yesterday afternoon, and we're WIPED OUT! Why does vacation leave you exhausted? Or maybe it's the vacationing with 4 kids that's exhausting...I bet that's it! Nevertheless, we had a BLAST!

Today I wanted to share with you how to earn free gift cards! SWAGBUCKS is a really neat website where you get SWAGBUCKS just for searching! You then can redeem those bucks for gift cards and other prizes they offer! Just in the past 2 weeks, I have redeemed my bucks for $15 in Amazon Gift Cards!

There's also other ways to earn bucks besides searching: referring friends and family, watching their videos, surveys, and more! SWAGBUCKS is legit- I can vouch for them!

So use my link and sign up; I get bucks for letting YOU know about this AMAZING site! How cool is that?!

St. Patrick's Day Banner

Tomorrow's the day! We leave tomorrow to go to Carlsbad, CA for a weekender and to visit Legoland! WOOHOO! So excited, but I think our kids are even MORE excited! I know we'll have a blast!

Today I want to share something I've been seeing around blogland, a cute St. Patrick's Day banner!

I used construction paper, an old hymnal book we had, and twine-REALLY easy!

 Here's how it went down:

I traced the clover I printed out on cardstock onto green construction paper

I cut out some pages from the hymnals

And then glued the clovers to the hymnal pages

And there we have it! A cute banner! WOO!

I also added some St. Patrick's Day Printables I found HERE and HERE. I LOVE MY MANTLE!!!!
